In the 1980s, Bhatt wrote an article for Manushi, a feminist magazine, about the Anti-Liquor Movement in Uttarakhand. This movement was led by women protesting the negative impact of alcohol on families, especially the financial strain and domestic violence caused by excessive drinking.
Uttarakhand Statehood Movement
In the 1990s, many women from the anti-liquor movement joined the campaign for a separate Uttarakhand state. Their efforts contributed to the formation of Uttarakhand in 2000.
